New Moon

Welcome to your New Moon Ritual & Embodiment Practice

For this session you will need:

  • Quiet place around the size of a yoga mat (There will be times where you are invited to play music so if this can be turned up to a reasonable level without concern this is ideal)

  • Warm cup of tea or glass of water

  • Cushion, block, bolster or folded towel to sit on (you may choose to lay down though)

  • Candle and lighter/ matches

  • Tissues

  • Blanket

  • Mood lighting

  • Heat proof bowl

  • Pen Paper & any art supplies, coloured pencils you enjoy using

THEMES for this new moon are NURTURING, HOME and FAMILY.

Cancer is the sign of emotions and deep feeling. It's a nice reminder that we are ALL sentient beings and who feel deeply. We are not more sensitive than anyone else, even though it may feel this way. The truth is we all feel emotion, we just experience it in our own unique way.

As astrologer Colin Bedell explains. Emotional safety isn’t found in withdrawal — it’s created through the steady strength of letting ourselves be known. 

The sharing of vulnerability is an act of belonging to ourselves. Home isn’t always a place or a person — it might be the feeling of hearing yourself speak aloud what has only lived inside. 

When we name what we’re feeling, even gently, we return to ourselves. We create a space for our emotions to rest in. The New Moon in Cancer invites this return. A return to the knowing that we’re not too much — or the only one. 

A return to the truth of our hearts. A return to the tender power of honest emotional language. That’s the kind of home Cancer helps us remember.

An Altar for this lunar cycle.


Continuing on from the Altar preparation at Dark Moon.

Your altar can be small and simple or elaborate and detailed, it may grow organically throughout the lunar cycle. Let intention and intuition lead you.

The only thing I will share is I think it is important that your altar space is clean, so take the time to wipe down your space and perhaps clear it with some sage or rosemary.
